Fabrice Hyber
Born in 1961 in Luçon, France
Lives in Paris
Throughout my artistic career, I have been finding common ground with trades or operations that can be tracked. These trades incarnate themselves in personal and invented characters or in common imaginary characters. Rubber Man, Bibendum, Santa Clause or Teddy Bear are part of my pantheon of heroes. For very many years I have been trying to make a list of them and imagine how to treat these characters. These two works are pieces on the list… I always forget some…. As well as the possibility to make them visible. An opera is being prepared.
Fabrice Hyber was technically educated before enrolling at the College of Fine Arts in Nantes and creating work resembling an enormous rhizome that develops according to the echo principle. Starting from drawing and painting, he uses all forms of artistic expression and constantly moves from one medium to another: “What matters is not the materiality of the work, but its capacity to cause certain behaviour”. The concepts of mutations and transformation permeate the activities and thinking of Fabrice Hyber.
