The artistic intervention sounds like air is located at the knot point of the building.
The project is placed in the entry-ways. Sounds like Birds, 2018 will use sound that emanates from a sound system as a way to dissolve the architectural borders between inside and outside. The exterior sound scape, being perceived in the interior, strengthens the idea of an open space. Sounds like Birds will be “based on the most simple possible use of technique, applied to its defined purposes and the actual context around it”. Choosing precisely the notion of spatial and sensual experience is the inspiration for this project. The urban environment in and around the space is not only defined by narration and architecture but also by nature and all its inhabitants and people, it seems obvious to bring this atmosphere literally into the house.
Hannah Weinberger graduated from the Fine Art Department of Zurich University of the Arts, and has lectured at the Art Institute in Basel since 2016. Through the use of music and sound performances, and video installations, she creates sound-based and visual atmospheres. Weinberger creates her compositions using field recordings, her own voice and of those around her, preset samples, and the public space.
