Lives in Mumbai
Works already produced at different times and at different moments in different places will converge and try to be in dialogue with the other in a place outside of them.
The space in Belgrade will witness these works come in and go out and thus become a part of the work. As the space will allow further encounters and friction with the work, it will cease to be the same as that it was when it was made.
Belgrade will become a part of the work’s recent history and in fact the work will belong to Belgrade and its past historical and spatial associations that hide underneath. Works will be reformulated thereby allowing them to be transformed into something else. It’s the afterlife of the works and an attempt to recall, re-evoke and revitalize that which was declared dead.
Hemali Bhuta holds a post diploma from M.S. University, Baroda, India and has exhibited both in India and internationally over the past 9 years. Her work traverses between being experiential sensory environments to sculptures with illegible ephemeral materials. Bhuta’s work deals with the effect of time on a space, through which she tries to transform the impression and identity of a space into a tangible experience. In addition to her practice as a visual artist, Bhuta is also the co-founder of CONA Foundation, an artist run space in Mumbai, India.
